Corporate Milestones


    • WHSSB formed new subsidiary companies to develop and manage its properties. These are WHSSB Trading Sdn. Bhd., WHSSB Property Development Sdn. Bhd., WHSSB Nominee Sdn. Bhd. and WHSSB Plantation Sdn. Bhd.
    • The State Government injected shares into WHSSB which include Unquoted shares are into Borneo Housing Mortgage Finance Berhad (BHMFB). Quoted shares are into Malaysia Airlines System Berhad (MAS), Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB), Telekom (M) Berhad, Bank Islam Malaysia Berhad (BIMB) and Malaysia International Shipping Corporation Berhad (MISC).



  • Suria Capital Holdings Berhad (SCHB) and Borneo Housing Mortgage Finance Berhad (BHMFB) became prominent associates of WHSSB.
  • Inception of Angkatan Hebat Sdn. Bhd. (AHSB) as subsidiary company of WHSSB for management of motor vehicles lease and ownership and other transport related businesses state wide.
  • Joint-Venture (JV) with Celcom-Timur (Sabah) Sdn. Bhd. to provide fibre optic transmission services in Sabah.



  • Incorporation of Tawau Medical Centre Sdn. Bhd. (now known as Tawau Millenium Centre Sdn. Bhd.(TMCSB) to develop and manage a modern, well equipped medical facility in Tawau.



  • WHSSB, upon request by the State Government, took over the shares previously held by KKIP Sdn. Bhd. in Klias Peninsula Development Corporation Sdn. Bhd.
  • Acquired shares in Sabah Medical Centre Sdn. Bhd. (SMC) following Government’s directive.



  • WHSSB acquired additional shares in SMC thus strengthening its grip on it.



  • WHSSB secured 60% equity in the then newly established subsidiary Common Tower Technologies Sdn. Bhd. (CTTSB) as a result of Government’s decision to have a ‘State Backed Company’ (SBC).



  • State Government gave WHSSB a green light to take over concessions of Foreign Workers Medical Examination from the Foreign Workers’ Medical Examination Monitoring Agency (FOMEMA).
  • Fully settled the RM20 million loan from the State Government.



  • Subscribed to Malaysia Airlines (MAS) Rights Issue and Redeemable Convertible Preference Shares (RCPS).
  • Purchased Salcon Berhad with a warrant right issue.



  • WHSSB’s Board approved a JV agreement with Yokomax (M) Sdn. Bhd. for implementation of a mini-hydro project in Sg. Mokodou, Ranau.



  • Subscribes to more MAS share rights issue.
  • Settled the RM64.09 million of soft loan to the State Government.



  • Executed a Joint Development Agreement (JDA) with Orion Mission Sdn. Bhd. (subsidiary of TNB) and Petronas Power Sdn. Bhd. (subsidiary of Petroliam Nasional Berhad) to undertake the proposed 300MW gas fire power plant at POIC, Lahad Datu.
  • Acquired shares of Ecoglove Asia Pacific Sdn. Bhd. (EAPSB) and Jesselton Wellness Sdn. Bhd. (JWSB) making the two as associate companies of WHSSB.
  • Disposed entire equity in SMC.
  • “Group Board Charter” approved by the Board and later officially launched.
  • WHSSB’s new “Financial Authority Limit” tabled and approved.
  • WHSSB’s “Investment Policy” introduced.
  • WHSSB’s Organisation Structure underwent major restructuring via a third party (external consultants).



  • Acquired shares of Mercury Crest Sdn. Bhd.
  • Approved establishment of Investment Board Committee.
  • The Remuneration Board Committee (REMCOM) established (8th March 2012).



  • Successfully implemented our first Dividend Reinvestment Plan involving payment of an Interim Dividend totalling RM 41.6 mil (net) to SSG and subsequently reinvested as new paid up shares of equivalent number in WHS.
  • Controlled 70% equity in Nova Beta (M) Energy Sdn. Bhd., another newly established subsidiary, in December 2013.
  • Acquired 20% equity in Eastern Sabah Power Consortium Sdn. Bhd. For a proposed 300MW gas fire power plant at POIC, Lahad Datu.
  • Granted the exclusive rights by the State Government to develop all small hydropower plants state wide under the “E-FiT Scheme” administered by SEDA.



  • Received facilitation fund of RM65 million from UKAS for implementation of Sabah State Government Administration Complex.
  • Acquired KOJASA Holdings Berhad.
  • Incorporated another new subsidiary, WHSSB Energy Ventures Sdn. Bhd. (EVSB).
  • Acceptance of purchase offer for MAS share from Khazanah Nasional Berhad.



  • MoU with SESB on proposed collaboration to develop small hydro projects in Sabah.
  • Executed Facilitation Fund Agreement pertaining to construction of Pusat Pentadbiran Kerjaan Negeri Sabah (PPNS).
  • Signed a JV agreement with Sina Sterilgamma Sdn. Bhd. to establish Certicate Sterilisation Service Centre in Kota KInabalu.
  • Acquired further shares of CTTSB previously held by individual shareholders.



  • Subsidiary CTSSB obtained LoI from the State Government for implementation of Safe City Project in collaboration with HUAWEI.
  • Acquired shares from KKIPSB amounting to RM9 Million.
  • Renewal of Agreement on Partial Privatisation of State Government’s Vehicles cum Concession Agreement under AHSB.



  • Drawdown of Facilitation Fund amounting from RM58 million from Government of Malaysia and Bank Pembangunan Malaysia Berhad for Pusat Pentadbiran Negeri Sabah (PPNS) project on behalf of Sabah State Government.
  • Acquisition of 62% equity in Jesselton Wellness Sdn. Bhd. (JWSB) from Riverson Corporation Sdn Bhd amounting to RM105 million.
  • Signing of MoU with Sabah Fish Marketing Sdn. Bhd. (SAFMA) on the proposed Semporna Tourism Hub.
